Pt. Rajeev Taranath memorial event

Internationally acclaimed sarod maestro Pt. Rajeev Taranath is among the magnificent musicians of our country. This rare artiste sought to spread the messages of plurality, equality and humaneness through his music. He received several prestigious awards and national honours including the Padma Shri.

On Aug. 11 at 5 pm, Pt. Rajeev Taranath Memorial Trust, in collaboration with Kannada & Culture Department, is organising an event to remember him. Dr. Vijaya, Pt. Nayan Ghosh, Dr. Jayant Kaikini and Vidwan T.M. Krishna will share their memories of the maestro. Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti (Director of Kannada & Culture Department) will preside.  H. Janardhan (former Director of Rangayana, Mysuru) will present songs from the play Kuri. This will be followed by a sitar recital by Nayan Ghosh with Ishan Ghosh on tabla. Excerpts from documentary ‘Pt. Rajeev Taranath – A Life in Music’ will be shown as part of the programme. For details, contact Mob: 99000-82773.
