August 29, 2024

Mysuru:  Voice of People, an NGO has complained to the Governor alleging irregularities in the sales of tickets of Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara-2023 incurring a loss of Rs. 2.63 crore to the State exchequer.

Addressing media persons at Pathrakartara Bhavana in the city yesterday, Founder President of the organisation A. Vasanth Kumar Chauhan said, during Dasara previous year, the Deputy Commissioner had stated that the Dasara passes will be sold only online not offline.

However, soon after the sale of passes was launched online through the official website of the Government, the technical snag in the server was reported, only to divert the passes to politicians and officials. The common people were deprived of the opportunity to buy pass to watch Dasara, he rued.

This irregularities caused losses to the tune of Rs. 2,63,38,000 crore to the exchequer. The Gold Card and tickets to watch Jumboo Savari at Palace were available in the range of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000. But, a total of 54,157 tickets accounting for 68% of the total tickets including that of those meant for the public, were reserved for the Officers and politicians, and additionally 94% of the tickets were issued to them, thus depriving the general public from watching Jumboo Savari procession.

For Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap, a total of 25,703 tickets had been kept reserved. But barely about 4,617 tickets (6% of the total tickets) were sold to the public.

The complaint in this regard has been also lodged with the Chief Secretary to the Government, Lokayukta and Regional Commissioner, said Chauhan.

Sujaykumar Singh, Rakesh, Arjun and Pradeep were present at the press meet.
