September 3, 2024

Mysuru: Vokkaliga Aarakshakara Seva Trust had organised a programme at Negilayogi Maruleshwara Seva Bhavan in Jayanagar here on Sunday, to felicitate meritorious children of Trust members and retired Police Officers.

Retired IPS Officer C. Chandrashekar, who had served as Mysuru Police Commissioner over two decades ago, spoke on the occasion and said that the children of Policemen need not necessarily become Policemen.

Pointing out that the parents should recognise the talent in their wards and encourage them to choose their own career, he called upon the Policemen to give importance to their health.

Noting that Policemen need not feel disassociated with the Department upon retiring, he said that the Department too should come up with schemes for the welfare of Policemen.

Chandrashekar also recalled how he completed the Police Bhavan, started by his predecessor Police Commissioner Kempaiah and the construction of Kalyana Mantapa and Hospital.

A total of 10 retired Police Officers including retired Dy.SPs J.B. Rangaswamy, G.N. Mohan, Ramegowda, Dhananjaya and Jayaram and retired Police Inspector Gopalakrishna were felicitated.

Also, meritorious children of the Trust members, who had scored high marks in SSLC and PUC (2023-24), were presented Pratibha Puraskar and 4 visually impaired staff of Karunamayi Trust and Javaraiah, who has been conducting the last rites of dead persons at Jayanagar Burial Grounds for the last 13 years, were honoured on the occasion.
