Case registered against Contractor

Mysuru: A welder was killed on the spot, when a huge metal rack fell & hit his head at a factory on KRS Road in Metagalli on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Mahesh (36), a resident of Belavatta and a case of negligence has been registered against the Contractor at Metagalli Police Station.

It is learnt that the factory management had entrusted the work of welding a huge metal rack and shift the same inside to a contractor. The contractor had hired 3-4 workers for the work and while shifting the metal rack in a trolley, the rack fell on the head of Mahesh, who died on the spot.

Based on the complaint from Mahesh’s wife, a case of negligence has been registered against the contractor, Metagalli Police said. Mahesh’s wife accused the contractor of not taking safety precautions which led to the death of her husband.

A heart rending scene was witnessed near the MMC&RI mortuary where Mahesh’s wife, two children and relatives were weeping bitterly after losing the lone bread-earner.
