It robs Mysuru city centre of its liveliness during Dasara

I am writing to express my concern over the recent decision of the District Administration to shift the venue of the much-anticipated Yuva Dasara event from the traditional Maharaja’s College Grounds to the outskirts of the city near Utthanahalli.

Yuva Dasara has long been a cultural highlight, drawing large crowds from the city and nearby areas. The central location at Maharaja’s College Grounds made it easily accessible to all sections of society, ensuring maximum participation and enjoyment for young people, families and tourists alike.

However, the decision to move the venue has unfortunately caused several issues:

1. Distance and inconveni-ence: The new venue is considerably far from city centre, making it difficult for attendees, especially students and working individuals, to travel long distances. The event is meant to celebrate youth, but this change creates an unnecessary hurdle for many to attend.

2. Transportation concerns: Public transportation to the outskirts is neither frequent nor convenient, especially in the evenings when people typically attend such events. This forces attendees to rely on private vehicles, which may not be a viable option for all, leading to lower turnout.

3. City’s loss of a cultural hub: Yuva Dasara, held in the heart of the city, brought vibrancy to Mysuru. Moving it to a more isolated venue robs the city centre of its liveliness during the festivities, reducing its charm.

I urge the authorities to reconsider the venue for future Yuva Dasara events. Keeping it within city and at accessible locations will help preserve the event’s popularity and ensure inclusivity for all citizens.
