Dogs in Kukkarahalli Lake warm your heart

October 7, 2024

Sir,

This is in response to the news item ‘Stray dog menace in Kukkarahalli Lake’ published in Star of Mysore dated Sept. 24.

I am a resident of a locality adjacent to Kukkarahalli Lake and have been walking there regularly for the past 60 years. In all that time, I have never felt threatened by the presence of dogs in the area, and many other regular walkers share my opinion.

In fact, many of the dogs are so friendly that they warm your heart, despite leading hard lives with no protection from the elements and no regular access to food.

On the other hand, I understand that the mere presence of a dog can put some people on high alert. Taking both views into consideration, I believe the report depicts only ‘ardha satya’ (half-truth), which unnecessarily heightens the anxiety of those already on edge, ultimately putting both animals and people at greater risk.
