Advocate and Notary, former Kodagu District Central Cooperative (KDCC) Bank President Mathanda A. Ramesh (75), a resident of Bollumad (Bellumadu) village in Virajpet taluk, passed away on Oct. 11.

He leaves behind his wife Beena (Machamada) and three children — Dr. M.R. Aiyappa, Consultant Physician and Diabetologist, Director, Brindavan Hospital, Mysuru, Dr. Teena Ramesh, Aesthetic Dermatologist, Ohio, USA and Dr. Reema Paediatric Haematologist and Oncologist.

Ramesh’s last rites were held at Bollumad on Oct. 12.

Ramesh had previously contested elections as the District President of JD(S) for Kodagu and as the JD(S) candidate for the erstwhile  Kodagu-Mangaluru Lok Sabha Constituency.

A close associate of former Minister M.C. Nanaiah, Ramesh implemented several plans for the progress of the Kodagu District Cooperative Bank and the welfare of its members during his tenure as President. He had also served as a member of the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat and undertook several public welfare programmes in his Constituency.
