Mysuru: Nishhat Afza, Founder and Director of Curiocity – School of Creative Art and Design, N.R. Mohalla, Mysuru, has bagged first prize for her Terrace Garden and first prize for Waterfalls for the 7th consecutive year in the Dasara Home Garden Competition organised by the Mysuru Horticultural Society.
Her garden is a reflection of diversity in plant world. She has a good collection of ornamental plants, succulents, fruits, vegetables and bonsais on her terrace. A member of Srushti Bonsai Circle, she has also been awarded for her service towards empowerment of women and children.
Every year there is a new addition and a new theme to her garden. This year she has created a Chinese bonsai garden with Bonsais that she has nurtured from years. Along with the Bonsais, it houses the Pagoda, the Chinese Figurines, rocks, pebbles and wall Chinese decorative fans, small pond with Pelicans.
Apart from this, the Gazebo houses the fairy garden with a collection of succulents. All the walls are covered with beautiful creepers and in the middle of the garden you can find a beautiful lotus pond with Pelicans.
Every part is very artistically designed and decorated which is a feast for the eyes. Another corner has a stream created with coloured pebbles surrounded with a flowering tree and succulents. In short it’s a beautifully laid out garden showcasing her creative skills in gardening. Her home’s ground floor has an amazing waterfall displaying varieties of ferns and flower creepers. Apart from enhancing her house and garden she has also taken care of her civic responsibility by beautifying the footpath with rock gardens using plants, pebbles, artistic rocks and two bottlebrush trees. She concludes saying that gardening is a great physical activity which enhances the quality of life and is the best therapy for relaxation.
