Burglars decamp with silver and car from locked house on city outskirts

November 24, 2024

Mysuru: Burglars, who broke into a house on city outskirts, not only decamped with silver articles, but have also taken away the car parked inside the compound.

The burglary took place at the house of Srinivasamurthy, a KEB Meter Reader at Nanjangud and Sangeetha couple, residents of Kapila Layout in Nadanahalli on the outskirts of city. The burglars have made away with silver articles worth about Rs. 31,000 and a Tata Indica car.

As Srinivasamurthy works in Nanjangud, the couple used to reside in a rented house there and come to Mysuru residence thrice a week. On Nov. 14, the couple left for Vittala-Rukmini Temple at Pandharpur in Maharashtra from Mysuru and returned to Nanjangud on Nov. 17.

The theft came to light when the couple came to their Mysuru residence on Nov. 21 evening only to see their car missing. The couple then entered the house and saw it ransacked. On inspecting the house further, the couple saw silver lamps and plates and bronze lamps kept in the almirah stolen and the car keys kept near the showcase missing.

The burglars, after stealing the silver and bronze articles, took the key of the car, kept the stolen booty in it and had left the spot, according to the complaint lodged by Srinivasamurthy.

Alanahalli Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
