Dr. Narayan Murthy (81), retired faculty at Pace University, New York in the US and a resident of No. 577, Anikethana Road 9th Cross, Kuvempunagar here, passed away following brief illness in the wee hours of today at a private hospital in city.

Dr. Murthy, after retiring, was spending time in New York and Mysuru.

He leaves behind his wife Geetha S. Murthy, son Ajay Murthy and a host of relatives and friends.

Dr. Murthy earned his Ph.D and MS in Mathematics, as well as MS in Computer Science, from the University of Rhode Island. He also holds an MS in Mathematics and a BS in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Mysore.

Last rites will be held between 10.30 am and 11 am at the foot of Chamundi Hill tomorrow (Nov. 28).
