‘Sports play vital role in building strong mental & physical health’

DC inaugurates 3-day Mysuru City Police Annual Sports Meet-2024

Mysuru: “Sports play an important role in building a strong mental and physical health, especially for the Police who work under severe stress round-the-clock, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) G. Lakshmikanth Reddy here this morning. He was speaking after inaugurating the three-day Mysuru City Police Annual Sports Meet – 2024 by releasing the balloons at the CAR Grounds.

“Earlier, Sports Meets were organised by various Departments annually. However, it has now become a rarity with the Meets being organised once in 2-3 years. But the Police Department has ensured to conduct the Sports Meet every year which is commendable,” he added.

The DC also distributed prizes to Shashank (NR Sub-Division), Nagendra (KR Sub-Division) and Sanjay (CAR), who secured first, second and third places respectively in the Men’s 800 mts Run.

Earlier, CAR Reserve Police Inspector Ramu administered the oath to the participating Police personnel. Police personnel from all Sub-Divisions of the City Police are taking part in the  Annual Sports Meet.

City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, DCP (Law and Order) M. Muthuraju, DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi, DCP (CAR) A. Maruthi, CESC SP (Vigilance) Savitha Hoogar, KARP Mounted Company Commandant  V. Shylendra, ACPs of all Sub-Divisions, Police Inspectors and staff were present.

The valedictory of the Annual Sports Meet will be held on Nov. 29 along with the finals of the 100 mts sprint, tug-of-war and sports events for the invitees.
