Farmer dies in bee attack

Periyapatna: A farmer, who was grazing his cattle died after a swarm of bees attacked and stung him at Melur village, Bettadapura hobli in the taluk yesterday afternoon.

The deceased farmer is Puttaraju (61), a resident of Melur village. He leaves behind his wife Parvathamma, son M.P. Shivakumar, daughter M.P. Jalajakshi and a host of relatives and friends.

When Puttaraju began to scream for help following attack be bees, his brother Basavaraju and relative Mallikarjuna rushed to his help but were also stung by the bees and sustained injuries.

All the three were rushed to Periyapatna Taluk Hospital, where Puttaraju breathed his last and the other two are being treated at the hospital.

Bettadapura Police have registered a case.
