Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will present a vocal concert by city’s eminent vocalist, Vid. Bellary M. Raghavendra, at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Ganabharathi, Adichunchanagiri Road, Kuvempunagar, on Dec. 11 at 6 pm.
Senior artistes, Vid. N.N. Ganeshkumar and Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar will provide support on violin and mridanga respectively, while Vid. Vikram Bharadwaj will accompany on morching.
Artiste’s Profile
Vid. Raghavendra hails from the family of well-known musicians; Vid. Venkateshachar (father) and Vid. Sheshagiri Achar (uncle), popularly known as Bellary Brothers. He was trained by his uncle, who was also an eminent composer, besides learning from his father.
Vid. Raghavendra is an ‘A Grade’ artiste of All India Radio in Karnatak Classical, Devotional and Light Music. Blessed with a dexterous and vibrant voice, he is known for popularising Dasa Sahitya gifted to him by his predecessors. He is also proficient in morching and kunnakkol.
He worked in various parts of the State as an Executive in AIR and recently retired as the Assistant Station Director.
