Mysuru: The Kodava Samaja, Mysuru, will celebrate Puthari Namme-2024 at Sree Cauvery Educational Institutions in Kuvempunagar on Dec. 14.
This year’s harvest festival celebrations will commence at 5.30 pm with the performance of all traditional dances of Kodavas.
This will be followed by Nere Kattuva ritual at 7.50 pm; Kadh Edupa (reaping of new paddy crop) at 8.45 pm, followed by distribution of thambutt prasada, according to a press release from Ketolira A. Belliappa, Hon. Secretary of the Samaja.
As a prelude to the fest, the annual eedu programme is being held at the Samaja premises in Vijayanagar at 6 pm daily since Dec. 8 and the following Sanghas hosted the Puthari Eedu:
Dec. 8: Thalakaveri Kodava Samskrithika Sangha, Hootagalli and Brahmagiri Kodava Association, Vijayanagar; Dec. 9: Cauvery Kodava Okkuta, N.R. Mohalla and Nellakki Kodava Koota, Vijayanagar; Dec. 11: Jayalakshmi Kodava Association, Jayalakshmipuram and Bhagavathi Kodava Association, Bogadi.
Today (Dec. 12): Igguthappa Kshemabhivrudhi Sangha, Hebbal and Ramakrishna Kodava Welfare Association, Ramakrishnanagar.
Dec. 13: Kodava Samaja Cultural and Sports Club.
