MLC C.T. Ravi ‘abusing’ Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar: Govt. announces CID probe

December 25, 2024

Bengaluru:  The State Government has handed over the case of BJP MLC C.T. Ravi allegedly abusing Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, with derogatory remarks, to CID. The CID will also probe into the complaint of MLC Ravi on the murder attempt on him at the premises of Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi.

This decision of the Government follows the assertion of Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti that, he had already issued a ruling in the case, which he dismissed as a ‘Closed Chapter,’ besides apprising the Government about the Police entering the Soudha premises.

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, who announced the decision of the Government to hand over the case to CID, said that the CID has been categorically instructed to submit the investigation report within three months.

“We have been hearing varied views in relation to the case, with allegations and counter allegations being made in the case and the cases registered in this regard at the Police station. Hence, the Government considered it as a special case and announced CID probe into it,” said Dr. Parameshwar.

Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who welcomed the Govt’s decision, exuded confidence that truth will come out, serving the justice.

MLC C.T. Ravi, who also welcomed CID probe, however demanded that the probe be headed by a sitting Judge. One can expect impartial probe even at the hands of a Police Constable, but what can he do in the case of any pressure, asked Ravi.

“Hirebagewadi Police themselves can conduct the investigation, if they are not subjected to any kind of pressure. But given the amount of pressure in the case, it would be better, if the sitting High Court Judge heads the probe,” opined MLC Ravi.
