GP Computer Operators Day celebrated

December 30, 2024

Mysuru: Mysuru Taluk Unit of Karnataka State Gram Panchayat Clerk-cum-Data Entry Operators (DEO) Welfare Association had organised a function at Taluk Panchayat auditorium here recently to celebrate Gram Panchayat (GP) Computer Operators Day.

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer (EO) C. Krishna, who inaugurated the function, said that as per the directive of the State Government, Computer Operators Day is being celebrated for the first time to mark the birth anniversary of ‘Father of Computers’ Charles Babbage on Dec. 26.

“By using computers it is possible to get fast information and efficient service. Of all State Departments, Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has computerised its activities the most. Gram Panchayats play an important role in ensuring the reach of State Government pro-people schemes to the rural masses. Similarly, Data Entry Operators play a significant role in providing service to the people,” said Krishna.

Continuing, he said, “the Computer Operators are functioning as the backbone of GPs. They work beyond their working hours many times and if they discharge their duties with the intention of serving the people, Gram Panchayats can offer even better services,” added the Taluk Panchayat EO.

State Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) Welfare Association Mysuru District President K. Rukmangad,a who also spoke at the function, said that as technology grows, people will get fast and efficient service.

“Required man power is also important to make optimum use of the available technology. Computer Operators, apart from responding to the needs of fast service, also play a vital role in development,” he concluded.

Association’s 2025 calendar was also released on the occasion. Panchayat Raj Assistant Director Gangadhar, Rural Employment Assistant Director Bhavya, State Government Employees Association District Director D.C. Shivanna, Assistant Accounts Officer Prema and others were present on the occasion.
