Mysuru: Providing education to girl students as part of community service was a noble cause, said Jean Moseley, Senior Vice-President, Data Axle, USA, here recently.

Speaking as a chief guest at the programme of commissioning of the steel gate of the Rs.13-lakh compound project of Rotary Ivory City Mysuru, in association with Data Axle, at Sri T.S. Subbanna Girls High School atop Chamundi Hill, she said that community mobilisation was an important factor in ensuring access to quality education for all girls, more so when there were challenges like poverty and social barriers.

She stated that though she hailed from a farmer’s family, she took up education and worked very hard. Women empowerment was key to the growth of a nation and India’s various initiatives in this regard was laudable, she added.

While interacting with girl students, she advised them to get educated by working hard. “Not only for better future and prosperity of the women in particular but also for the betterment of the society in general,” she said.

Stating that she had travelled for over 13 thousand kilometres from USA to visit the school in Mysuru, Jean Moseley said, “I am happy that girls are getting good education and facilities in Subbanna School.”

Data Axle has donated Rs. 5 lakh as part of its CSR activities to the construction project.

D. Krishna Murthy, Head Master of the School, Prashanth Rao of Data Axle, Rtn. Shashidhar, President of Rotary Ivory City, and Shobha Nagaraj, Hon. Secretary of the Club, spoke on the occasion.
