Mysuru: The 14th lamp lighting, oath taking ceremony and 10th Graduation ceremony of St. Joseph’s College of Nursing was held at St. Philomena’s College Indoor Stadium at Bannimantap in city recently.
A total of 91 new students took up the Light from Nursing Teachers and Oath was administered by St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Superintendent Sr. Elizabeth Rani and 78 students graduated and the Oath was recited by Most. Rev. D. Bernard Moras, Apostolic Administrator – Diocese of Mysore, who was the President. He delivered the keynote address urging the students to develop compassion and kindness towards their profession.
Rev. Fr. A.J. Tony, Associate Director (Finance), St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, who was the chief guest, addressed the students on professionalisms and understanding the concerns of patients even beyond their duty hours

St. Joseph’s Director Rev. Fr. Manuel D’souza, Administrator Rev. Fr. Roxan Baros, St. Philomena’s College Rector Rev. Fr. Lourd Prasad Joseph, Secretary to the Bishop Rev. Fr. Praveen Kumar were present.
Women’s Day celebrated: The Nursing College also celebrated International Women’s Day with international Kho Kho player B. Chaithra being the chief guest for the occasion.
She called upon the girl students to spend their free time in activities which truly inspires them and achieve success in life. Pointing out that there may not be support for girl children initially, Chaithra told them that it was their responsibility to get the attention and support for the stream they are flowing in.
Chaithra was felicitated on the occasion. St. Joseph’s Hospital and Nursing College Director Rev. Fr. Manuel D’souza, Administrator Rev. Fr. Roxan Baros, Principal D.G. Mamatha, Warden of Sanmathi Hostel Rev. Sr. Lucy and others were present.
