Mysuru: Sugama Sangeetha Academy Trust, Mysuru, and Kannada & Culture Department have organised a unique music programme titled ‘Nalavattara Nalivu’ at Ramagovinda Kalavedike in Ganabharathi premises, Kuvempunagar, from Apr. 17 to 20 at 6 pm.
The event commemorates Sugama Sangeetha Academy’s 40th anniversary. The brainchild of H.R. Leelavathi, a noted singer, music composer, poet and her husband late S.G. Raghuram, the Academy took its birth in Mysuru on 19.5.1985 to promote light classical music based on the poems written and popularised by dozens of poets and poetesses.
Apr. 17: Industrialist & art patron Dr. Jagannath Shenoy will inaugurate. Senior journalist G.N. Mohan will release ‘Gaana Yaana – Kavya Milana’ book. Kannada Professor and Critic Dr. M.S. Ashadevi will speak about the book. Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra Founder-Editor K.B. Ganapathy will be the guest of honour.
Students of Sugama Sangeetha Academy will present a music programme accompanied by C. Vishwanath on mandolin, Purushotham Kiragasur on keyboard, Bhima Shankar on tabla and Vinay Rangadhol on rhythm pad.
Apr. 18: Folk songs – Alapana Kalasamsthe; traditional songs – Suraghavi Foundation; vachana gayana – Dr. Madhaviraja; devaranama – Raghuleela School of Music; theatre songs – Sharada Kalakendra, accompanied by Shanmukha Sajja on keyboard, Bhimashankar on tabla and Shambhavi on violin.
Apr. 19: Kavikavya – Gayana.
Apr. 20: Valedictory – H.R. Leelavathi, B.K. Sumithra, Dr. Madhavi Raja, Indu Vishwanath, Dr. Rohini Mohan and Praveen D. Rao will be present. On the occasion, song, music compositions and poems of Leelavathi will be presented by various singers under the title ‘Hadagi Haridale.’ They will be accompanied by Sameer Rao on flute, C. Vishwanath on mandolin, Shanmukha Sajja on keyboard, Venugopala Raju on tabla and Vinay Rangadhol on rhythm pad.
