Man held for harassing woman for money

Hunsur: Hunsur Rural Police have arrested a man for allegedly harassing a woman for money.

The accused has been identified as 38-year-old Veeresh Kumar, a native of Sogi village in Hoovina Hadagali taluk, Hosapete, who is a hotel worker at APMC Yard in Gadag.

It is said that a few days ago, the accused had befriended the woman over the phone. Later, he gained her confidence and had collected the details and photos of her family members.

He then demanded Rs. 1.5 lakh from the woman, besides threatening the woman of posting the photos of her family members and their details on social media, thus harassing her mentally.

Fed up with the threats, the woman lodged a complaint at Hunsur Rural Police Station, following which the Police registered a case and based on the mobile tower location of accused Veeresh, the Police arrested him at Gadag and produced him before a Court, which remanded him to Judicial Custody.
