Mysuru: Sarada Vilas College (SVC) had organised its flagship event ‘Sharadothsava-2K25,’ an Inter-College Science and Technology, Literary and Cultural Fest at the Centenary Hall of Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions (SVEI) in Krishnamurthypuram recently.

Chief guest Prof. M. Krishnegowda, retired Principal, St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, a noted humourist and an alumnus of SVC, inaugurated the event.

Singer Amulya, winner of ‘Ede Tumbi Haduvenu’ reality show and runner-up of Zee SaReGaMaPa, launched the logo of ‘Sharadothsava’ which was followed by the fest and week-long programme of interclass sports and cultural competitions, Ethnic Day and culminated with valedictory of Student Forum and College Day  ‘Samprathibhothsava.’

Dr. M.V. Yathiraj Sharma, Head, Department of Mathematics, introduced the chief guest while Sagar, a 4th semester B.Sc student, rendered the invocation.

In his address, Prof. Krishnegowda  said, “To ensure that art remains free from pettiness and exhibits refinement, every individual must possess originality. When language fails, humans turn to non-verbal art forms. In this sense, symbols, sculptures, silence, paintings, songs and music are all artistic languages.”

He expressed concern that, amidst the hustle and bustle of worldly life, we are losing the subtlety, charm and depth of poetry. “Without emotional depth in humans, art cannot be born,” he emphasised.

He also stated that every individual possesses an inherent creative potential that is unique. “Everyone must recognise and nurture it. Only those with relentless perseverance and high determination to strive for perfection will ultimately succeed,” he added.

R. Dinesh, Hon. Secretary of Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions, was the guest of honour. College Principal Dr. M. Devika presided. The event featured English Debate, Bhavageete, solo dance, Mehendi, Reels creation – A Day in the Life of a College, instrumental play, cine quiz, techno-philia, reflecting the cultural heritage and creativity of the student community.

More than 100 students from various colleges of University of Mysore, Mandya and Hassan participated in the competitions.

Winners were given cash prizes, silver medals and trophies. The host college won the rolling trophy instituted by Dr. Roshni in the name of her father Prof. Ramachandra Deva, an English Professor and a writer.

At the valedictory, prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions by Dr. M. Devika and R. Dinesha. Dr. N. Jyothi, Student Forum Coordinator, presented the report. S.N. Raj Kishore, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, compered.
