Mysuru: The first death anniversary of the internationally renowned Sarod Maestro Pt. Rajeev Taranath will be observed in city on June 11.
The Pt. Rajeev Taranath Memorial Trust is organising a cultural event in memory of this great musician at Ganabharathi auditorium in Kuvempungar on Wednesday (June 11) at 6 pm.
The evening will feature talks by the well-known writer Sumangala, renowned tabla player Pandit Udayraj Karpoor and others.
This will be followed by a Karnatak veena recital by Vidu. Sahana. She will be accompanied by Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.
Book release
The third print of the book titled ‘Pt. Rajeev Taranath Sarod Swarayaana,’ edited by Ganesh Amingad and Raghupathi Tamhankar, will be released at a programme to be held at Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal (KSGH) Music and Performing Arts University on JLB Road in city on June 11 at 11 am.
Sitarist C.S. Sarvamangala will release the book. Senior theatre person Kappanna will speak about Pt. Rajeev Taranath. KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nagesh V. Bettakote will preside. KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. M.G. Manjunath and Finance Officer and Registrar (in-Charge) Rekha will be present.
