A total of 292 students from the district have been selected for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme announced by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, for meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections studying between 9th std and 12th std. While a total of 274 candidates had been allocated to the district, an additional 18 students have been selected this year which includes 221 students from government schools — 98 students from Adarsha Vidyalaya, 20 from Karnataka Public Schools, 58 from Government High Schools, 45 from Government Higher Primary Schools and 71 from Government Aided Schools.
Among those selected include 78 from Mysuru Rural, 51 from Mysuru South, 42 from T. Narasipur, 34 from Nanjangud, 24 from Hunsur, 22 from Mysuru North, 18 each from K.R. Nagar and H.D. Kote and 5 from Periyapatna. All the selected students will get Rs. 12,000 scholarship every year which would be directly deposited to their bank accounts.
Applications invited for 2025-26 academic year
Meanwhile, applications are being received for the academic year 2025-26. Newly selected students and students who received scholarship during the previous academic year can get the bank account details, though National Scholarship Portal or from NMMS Nodal Officer at respective BEO offices, according to the Principal, District Institute of Education and Training, Mysuru.
