Mysuru: Chairman of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Karnataka Chapter, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Khan inaugurated the National Conference on ‘Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Through GMP and Session on RPTUAS’ organised by IPA, Mysuru Chapter in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Health Committee, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS-AHER) at JSS College of Pharmacy, Bannimantap in city recently.

The deadline has been extended till December 2025 to incorporate revised quality schedule for the Micro, Small and Medium Pharmaceutical companies with an annual turnover of Rs. 250 crore and below to implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while those companies with a turnover of Rs. 250 crore and above and the new entities should adopt the revised schedule immediately. The guidelines are in compliance with the criterion of World Health Organisation (WHO) and international level.  The motive behind this move is to maintain quality and lay stress on the strong pharmacy system, added Dr. Khalid Ahmed Khan.

Vice-Chancellor of JSS AHER Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa lauded the Department of Pharmaceuticals for starting Revamped Pharmaceuticals Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (RPTUAS). The industries should consider GMP as a fundamental responsibility rather than a controlling mechanism.

Former Drug Controller Dr. Amaresh Tumbagi explained about how the process of inspection and controlling have developed under revised timeline.

Savitha and over 100 participants including IPA members, students and entrepreneurs were present.
