Woman loses Rs. 10.68 lakh to online fraudsters

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman, who was lured into making more money through online work, has lost Rs. 10.68 lakh to online fraudsters. The woman, who lost her money is 59-year-old Shobha (name changed), a resident of Dattagalli in city.

Shobha, while browsing her Facebook page came across an advertisement related to online job. She contacted the mobile phone number mentioned in the advertisement and spoke to a person. Soon, the fraudsters began to send her messages on WhatsApp and told Shobha that they have sent a card in a parcel besides telling her that they would provide her the job as soon as she receives the card. The fraudsters also told her that she has to pay for the parcel

Believing them, the woman transferred money from both her Bank accounts and later realised that she has been cheated after she did not receive any messages or other correspondence from the fraudsters.

A case has been registered at city’s CEN Police Station.
