Hindustani vocal concert at Ganabharathi tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Swarasankula Sangeeta Sabha has organised a Hindustani classical music vocal recital by Anirudh Aithal at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar at 6 pm tomorrow (July 13).

He will  be accompanied by Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium and Bhimashankar Bidanur on tabla.

Aniruddh Aithal is a 26-year-old Hindustani classical musician, vocal music being his area of expertise. Born on Aug. 29, 1998, Aniruddh started learning Hindustani Classical Music from the tender age of 10. He formally started learning from Geetha Garud Prithviraj, daughter and disciple of the legendary tabla maestro Pt. D.S. Garud.

After 8 years of rigorous training, Aniruddh is now receiving training from Dr. Ashok Huggannavar, a disciple of the legendary maestros Pt. Lingaraj Buwa Yaraguppi, Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav and Pt. Basavaraj Rajguru.

He has bagged many prizes at both State and National-level incluing All India Radio National-level Competition in 2017.

He has also won numerous medals at the University-level for his Engineering College at Youth Festivals held every year. He is also the recipient of scholarships given by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi and the Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy.

Aniruddh has also been conferred an ‘A’ Grade by All India Radio in 2023 being one of the youngest artists in the country to have received this gradation. Recently, he has been awarded the prestigious Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship for 2024. He has also been conferred the Sur Jyotsna award by the Lokmat Group for emerging artistes for the year 2025. Aniruddh has also completed his first tour of the US and Canada during the summer of 2025 to great appreciation and response. He has been performing across the country at various festivals and events.

He has been fortunate to receive, apart from classical music Taleem, training in rare Rangageethes (theatre songs), Dasarapadas, Vachanas and Tatvapadas from his Gurus, art-forms that are increasingly rare and endangered.

His passion for the practical and applied sciences led him to pursue an engineering degree which he successfully completed in 2020 and he is now in the process of completing his Masters in Data Science and Analytics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
