Mysuru: In a startling revelation, it has come to light that the documents of Srirampura Gram Panchayat (GP), which was recently upgraded to a Town Panchayat, were concealed at a house in Srirampura.
This follows the Lokayukta raids on five Zonal offices of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), four Town Panchayats and one City Municipal Council (CMC) on Friday.
Reacting to a query of Star of Mysore about the documents of various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) stashed in a house, T.J. Udesh, Superintendent of Police (SP), Mysuru division, said, the documents pertaining to earlier Srirampura GP were found at a house in Srirampura locality.
“The documents spanning several years are being examined to find out who does they belong to. The higher officials will be apprised of the findings, only after verifying the documents in detail,” said SP Udesh.
Over 5k e-Khatas
That apart, the raids on MCC Zonal offices and other ULBs brought to fore, how the 5,832 e-Khatas were kept surreptitiously in respective offices, pending for disposal, without handing them over to the property owners.
A total of 43 such e-khatas were found in MCC Zonal office-1, 364 in MCC Zonal office-3, 398 in MCC Zonal office- 7,390 in MCC Zonal office-8 and 400 in MCC Zonal office-9, 448 in Bogadi Town Panchayat, 60 in Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC), 1,837 in Rammanahalli Town Panchayat, 1076 in Srirampura Town Panchayat and 152 in Kadakola Town Panchayat, all totalling 5,832 e-Khatas.
A report with regard to the raids will be submitted to the Lokayukta head office in Bengaluru. A notice seeking explanation will be issued to the officials and staff of those urban local bodies for keeping the e-khata pending for disposal. Further action will be taken on the basis of the reply received to the notice, as per instructions from the head office, added Lokayukta SP Udesh.
