Last week, an attempt was made to upload the required documents for obtaining an e-Khatha for my residential property. Although all inputs were uploaded, the system rejected the request for a draft copy, citing that the Encumbrance Certificate (EC) had expired — and therefore the upload could not be considered complete.

Unfortunately, due to repeated server downtime, frequent transfer of officials at the Mysuru City Corporation and personal reasons, the uploading process had been delayed. The situation is highly disappointing, as one cannot proceed without a draft of the document.

It appears that ECs are being treated as valid only for 15 days, a rule difficult to comprehend. Having obtained a fresh EC last weekend, I was met today with another roadblock — the server is under upgrade, and the activity may not resume for weeks. This means another EC might have to be obtained once again.

Hope, MCC will address this matter and ECs are accepted as valid until the end of current financial year, thus relieving seniors and general public of unnecessary stress and expenses.
