The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has convened a special meeting on Saturday (Aug. 30) at 4 pm at its premises located at No.6/1, Vivekananda Road, Yadavagiri, to mainly discuss Food Safety and Adulteration. Dr. S. L. Ravindra, Designated Officer from FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) will interact with the attendees on what are the frequent ways the food items we buy are adulterated and how the FSSAI has been acting to prevent such practices by inspecting hotels, restaurants and other food shops by taking and analysing samples. He will also talk about how the public can help them in detecting the wrong-doers.
Dr. K.G. Srinivas, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, Bharath Cancer Hospital, Mysuru will interact to inform how the use of pesticides can cause cancer, if safety precautions are not taken.
Ravichandra Bekal, Management Consultant who has worked in FMCG industry earlier, will participate and throw light on industry perspective on Food Safety and Compliances. This meeting has special significance in the background of thousands of tourists visiting Mysuru for the world famous Dasara.
