Mysuru: Muslim brethren celebrated Eid Meelad un Nabi, 1,500th Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammed at a function organised by Central Meelad Committee at Meelad Park, Ashoka Road, on Friday.

Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazarath Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff presided. Moulana Qari Fayaz Ahmed recited verses from the Holy Quran, Moulana Umar Farooq and Ameen Ulla khan presented Naath e Shariff praising Prophet Mohammed.

Vice-President of Central Meelad Committee Abdul Azeez Chand welcomed.

Hazarath Moulana Mohammed Zaka Ulla Siddiqi, Mohammed Ismail, Moulana Mohammed Sulthan and Hazarath Moulana Alhaj Akbar Shariff, Shaik ul Hadees, Darul Uloom Shah Vali ulla, Bengaluru spoke on the life and preachings of Prophet Mohammed.

Sir Khazi prayed for the welfare of the whole world. Meelad Committee Secretary S. Moinuddin Pasha compered. Committee President and MLA Tanveer Sait was also present. Meelad Sports Council distributed prizes to winners of various sports activities and Islamic literary competitions.

Syed Iqbal, Mohammed Mumtaz Ahmed, Khaleel ur Rahman Affu, Afroz Pasha, Shafi Ahmed, President of Gujree Bazar Association, Syed Meerajul Hassan and others were present. Afroze Pasha Appu felicitated the dignitaries and Ulemas.

Procession taken out

On the occasion, Eid Meelad-Un-Nabi procession was taken out in the afternoon, which was flagged off from Masjid-e-Azam on Ashoka Road by Hazarath Moulana Sufi Mohd. Anwar Ahmed Nizami, Secretary, Azeezia Education Trust.

The procession passed through Sawday Road, Mission Hospital Circle, Eidgah Masjid and Pulikeshi Road to reach the Muslim Burial Grounds near Tipu Circle where tributes were paid for the departed souls. The procession continued on K.T. Street, Sunni Chowk, KR Park Road and culminated at Masjid-e-Azam.

As the procession reached the Mission Hospital Circle,  Managing Director of ABS Group of Hotel ABS Syed Abbas and ABS Syed Umar distributed sweets and cool drinks to participants and felicitated Ulemas. An autorickshaw donated by ABS Group was handed over to a needy person by Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda.

Hazarath Moulana Mufti Shamshul Huda Samadi, Chief Qari, Idhara Shariya of Masjid Azam, Hazarath Moulana Fasiulla Warsi, Sarkar Mehboob Subhani, Hafeez Ulla Shariff, Meena Bazar Merchants Association President Ilyas Baig Khadree, Social Worker Mirza Jamsheed Baig Ashrafi, Masjid-e- Azam Management Committee Members, Mushtaq Ahmed, Munawar Ahmed Sha Khadree, Syed Jameel Hafiz, Tabraiz Raza, Imam of Eidgah Masjid, Syed Tabraiz Hafiz Amanulla Warsi, Nasir Khan Khushali, Azam and a large number of Mubleeqin Dawath Islami in Mysuru City and District took part. Police provided security.
