Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust will be organising a Karnatak Classical Flute Concert by Vid. A.V. Dattatreya at Krishnamurthypuram Sri Rama Mandira, Mysuru, on Sept. 13 (Saturday) at 6 pm.
He will be accompanied by Vid. M.R. Srikanth on violin, Pradyumna K. Prasad on mandolin, Vid. N. Kumar on mridanga and Vid. M.S. Lakshmikanth on ghata.
Profile: Senior artiste Vid. A.V. Dattatreya is from a family of musicians. His father Vid. A.K. Muthanna was a reputed violinist. Dattatreya was trained as an accomplished flautist by his elder brother, well-known flautist and guru Vid. A.V. Prakash.
Later he also got higher guidance from senior flautist Vid. K.P. Upadhyaya. He learnt playing mandolin himself and came to fame as a mandolin artiste also.
Vid. Dattatreya served as a flautist in the Karnataka Police Band and was elevated as the Band Master before his retirement. He is known for his valuable contribution in training numerous students in flute and mandolin.
