Mysore/Mysuru: Lakumi, a short film directed by Sutan Dileep was adjudged as First Best Short Film, in a contest organised as part of Dasara Film Festival-2025 at Inox Multiplex, Mall of Mysore on M.G. Road in the city recently. Dileep was presented with a memento and cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
Himbalisu directed by Manikanta secured second Best Short Film Award with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and Habbada Hasivu directed by D.S. Shashikumar, secured third Best Short Film award and cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
The short films were screened at Dasara Film Festival.
Lakumi was also awarded in the category of Best Cinematography and Himbalisu in Best Editor category.
Actress Deepa Ravishankar, who was the chief guest for the award distribution ceremony dissuaded those who could not make it to the top list, from being let down.
“It is extremely difficult to make a short film in a short span of time, as it demands dedication more than making a commercial movie. The newcomers should come out with more such short films to send a message to the society,” advised Deepa Ravishankar.
Serial actor Ashwin Kumar and veteran cinematographer Ashwathnarayan were felicitated by Dasara Film Festival Sub-Committee.
Vice-chairman of Dasara Film Festival Sub-Committee Siddaraju, AC and Deputy Special Officer Vijaykumar, juries Charita, a CAVA faculty, EMMRC technician Gopinath and office-bearers of Dasara Film Festival Sub-Committee were present.
