Nirbhayamati Mataji (83), belonging to Digambar Jain community, passed away (Samadhi Marana) last evening.

Formerly called as Nirmalamma, she leaves behind son S.N. Padmaprasad, daughter S.N. Jyothi, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

A native of Saragur, she had embraced ‘Sallekhana Vratha’ (a Jain religious practice of voluntarily embracing death through gradual fasting to achieve spiritual liberation) from 108 Sri Punyasagar Muni on Tuesday in city.

Last rites were held at Saragur this morning.
