Mysore/Mysuru: The city is all set to celebrate World Tourism Day amidst the Dasara festival tomorrow (Sept. 27) with a colourful event at the Mysore Palace forecourt, at 10 am.
Organised jointly by the District Administration and the Department of Tourism, the celebration is being supported by the Mysore Hotel Owners’ Association, Mysore Travels Association, Skal International Mysore, and the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI).
Tourists visiting Palace will be welcomed with sweets and flower bouquets as a mark of hospitality. The festivities will feature Mounted Police displays, traditional Dollu Kunitha, Kodava dance, Kamsale performances, and a colourful procession showcasing various art troupes. The procession will commence at Jayarama and Balarama Gates, pass through K.R. Circle, and culminate at Highway Circle (Moulana Abul Kalam Circle).
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Minister for Tourism H.K. Patil, District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, current and former elected representatives from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts and officials from the Mysore Palace Board will be present.
Later in the evening, a special cultural programme within the Palace premises will honour individuals who have made notable contributions to the tourism sector.
Organisers said that annual celebration aims to promote Mysuru’s tourism on a global scale. By showcasing the city’s rich heritage and history, the event hopes to attract visitors from across the world, thereby boosting tourism and contributing to overall economic development.
