Urdu Poet and Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi feted

Mysore/Mysuru: Dasara Urdu Mushaira was held at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds in city on Saturday. MLA Tanveer Sait inaugurated the Mushaira by lighting a big candle at 9 pm and the Mushaira concluded at 3.30 am next day.

On the occasion, senior artist Abbas Shariff, Prof. Nyamath Ulla Khan and Chairman of Karnataka Urdu Academy Moulana Mohamed Ali Khazi were felicitated.

Urdu Poet and Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi, who is also the Chairman of All India Congress Committee, Minority Department, was also feted along with other Urdu poets. Famous poet from New Delhi Nadeem Farooq compered. Artist Abbas Shariff presented a painting of Imran Pratabgarhi                 to the MP.

Poets Mirza Abbas Nawaz, Hakeem Sayeed, Tabrez Hashmi  (Bihar), Ayeesha Chand, Suhail Nizami (Bengaluru), Himanshi Babra (Meerut), Adil Rasheed (New Delhi), Mwonica Dubey (Jabalpur), Sampath Saral, Shakeel Azmi, Tanveer Azmi Kunigal and Imran Pratabgarhi rendered their poems much to the delight of the audience.

Meanwhile, a person from the audience presented some amount to Imran, who gave it to a boy through former Corporator Suhail Baig.

Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Ayub Khan, Dr. Akheel Ahmed, Dr. K. Javeed Nayeem,  Congress leaders Syed Iqbal, Khaiser Ahmed, Manjunath, Salma Siddiqa, Z-Mark Managing Director Zubair Ahmed, former Corporator Syed Hasrath ulla, Moulana Ibrahim, Moulana Qari Fayaz Ahmed, Shakeel Nawaz, Syed Mujahid, members of Dasara Urdu Mushaira Committee S. Moinuddin Pasha, Afsar Pasha, Ghayas Ahmed Akram, Suhail Baig, Mohammed Mumtaz Ahmed, Dasara Kavigoshti Sub-Committee Deputy Special Officer Somashekar, Working President Lolakshi, President Suresh, Manonmani, Maridevaiah and others were present.
