Mysuru, Oct. 8- Das Suryawanshi, State Commissioner for Office of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act – Karnataka, has urged Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to provide five percent reservation in admissions to disabled candidates.
Speaking during his visit to KSOU in city on Monday, Suryawanshi said, KSOU must introduce Under Graduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) courses like Special B.Ed and M.Ed for the benefit of disabled students, along with extending five percent reservation in enrolment for Ph.D and all other UG and PG courses. If KSOU initiates any letter correspondence, facilitation will be provided for consent, as the Varsities have a key role to play in reaching the facilities of the Government to disabled persons, he opined.
KSOU Dean (Academic) Prof. M. Ramanatham Naidu took Suryawanshi to studio of the Varsity, followed by study materials section, library and evaluation sections and explained about the functioning of respective departments. Suryawanshi, who lauded the functioning of KSOU, assured to organise a conference henceforth in association with KSOU.
KSOU Finance Officer Prof. Niranjan Raj, Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. C.S. Anand Kumar, Dean (Study Centre) Dr. Chandregowda, Deans, faculty and non-teaching faculty were present.
