Sir,
The Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Service Road at Alanahalli – Nadanahalli Cross remain water-logged throughout the year, even during summer. Filthy water continuously flows out from the box drain and the overflowing drainage has turned into a breeding ground for frogs, mosquitoes and even water snakes.
The one-kilometre stretch of box drain from Alanahalli Traffic Signal to Devegowda Traffic Signal is filled with stagnant water and solid waste.
The main reason: Commercial buildings, shops and restaurants have illegally cut through the service road and connected their drain pipes — including sewage outlets — to the box drain. They resorted to this because there is no underground drainage (UGD) line along this stretch.
During the rains, water gushes out like a river at this junction. Though authorities recently attempted to pump out the water, the relief was short-lived — by the next day, the problem had returned.
Instead of resorting to such temporary measures, the authorities must find a permanent solution to this persistent issue.
