Mysore/Mysuru: Maharani’s Arts College for Women (MACW), Mysuru, in collaboration with The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, will be hosting a National Conference on ‘Social Awareness on Cybersecurity and Phishing Attacks: Challenges & Preventive Strategies’ at Smt. Jailakshmammanni Auditorium in Maharani’s Arts College for Women in city tomorrow (Oct. 17).

The event is sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under its Collaborative Research Projects on Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047 initiative.

The Conference is intended to address one of the most pressing issues of our times — the challenge of safeguarding individuals and institutions from phishing, data breaches and online fraud. It will highlight national and global policy frameworks, the importance of community awareness, data protection laws, ethical responsibilities and safe internet practices.

Expert lectures and paper presentations will enrich the sessions, enabling participants to engage with the technical, social and ethical dimensions of cybersecurity.

The inaugural session at 10 am will be attended by eminent dignitaries, including Dr. K.M. Anil Kumar, Professor at JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, as the chief guest, along with K. Harishgowda, MLA and Chairman of the College Development Council (CDC) at Maharani’s Arts College for Women, and Dr. D.S. Prathima, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Mysuru, as the guests of honour.

The event is being organised under the academic leadership of Dr. Rohini Nagapadma, Principal of NIE, Mysuru and Dr. M.S. Anitha, Principal of Maharani’s Arts College for Women, Mysuru, with active support from Dr. K.C. Manjunath, Vice-Principal, NIE and Dr. C. Vidya Raj, Dean (Academic Affairs), NIE.

The National Conference is coordinated by a committed team comprising Dr. P.N. Hemachandra, Professor at MACW; Dr. A. Ananda, PG Coordinator in the Department of Economics at MACW; K. Venkatesh, Gazetted Manager at MACW; Dr. B.S. Sharmila, Assistant Professor in ECE at NIE; Dr. B.M. Nandini, Associate Professor in CSE at NIE and Dr. S.S. Kavitha, Assistant Professor in ECE at NIE.
