Cyber fraud: Two lose Rs. 31 lakh

October 26, 2025

Mysuru, Oct. 26 – In separate cases, two persons have lost over Rs. 31 lakh to cyber criminals, adding to the spurt in cases involving tech savvy crooks targeting gullible persons.

In the first case, a self-employed woman, residing at K.R. Srinivasan IPS Nagar, had come across a trading related advertisement on social media. She clicked the link provided in the advertisement and registered her name and mobile number.

She instantly received a reply from one Raghav Ramachandra, who sent a link through e-mail. With the help of the link provided, she had opened her trading account.

A person by name Nikhil Gowda, contacted the woman and introduced himself as the Financial Advisor and shared the information related to High Value Trading.

Another person, named Suraj Reddy, contacted the woman and introduced as Financial Advisor, only to assure her about high returns on investment made in trading.

The woman, who came in their words, invested Rs. 19,74,700, by transferring the money in instalments. Once, when she tried to withdraw the amount, she was asked to pay tax for the same. The woman duly obliged and paid the tax, to find it difficult to withdraw the money again.

Upon realising that she has been cheated, the woman lodged a complaint at CEN Police Station.

In the second case, a resident of Nadahalli, Mysuru taluk, downloaded APK files received on her mobile phone only to lose Rs. 11,69,600.

The amount was transferred from her account in a nationalised bank to an unknown person’s account, from Oct. 21 to 23.

CEN Police have registered a case and are investigating.
