Mysuru, Oct. 27 – JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) and Maharani’s Commerce and Management College for Women emerged as champions in the Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji Memorial Men’s Basketball and Women’s Throwball Tournament, respectively, held at the JSS STU campus, recently. The tournament was organised by the Department of Physical Education, JSS STU.

In an exciting men’s basketball final, JSS STU edged past The National Institute of Engineering (NIE) with a close 56-47 victory. Chaitanya and Bhuvan Kumar starred for JSS STU, scoring 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Aryan of NIE, who was later declared Player of the Tournament, impressed with 24 points.

In women’s throwball finals, Maharani’s Commerce and Management College for Women defeated JSS College for Women, Saraswathipuram, in straight sets (25-22, 25-23). Sushma of JSS College, who earned Player of the Tournament title, delivered a strong performance.

The tournament attracted 23 women’s and 12 men’s teams from across Mysuru. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by K.R. Santhanam, Director (Accounts & Audit), JSS Mahavidyapeetha in the presence of JSS STU Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.N. Santosh Kumar, Registrar Prof S.A. Dhanraj and others.
