Mysore/Mysuru: A man was killed after he was struck by a railway tower car at Chamarajapuram Railway Station yesterday evening.

The railway tower car, which is being used for the maintenance of the electrical system, was proceeding from Ashokapuram Railway Station to the City Railway Station. Though the gates were closed for the tower car to pass, the man, aged about 50 years tried to cross the railway track during which he was struck by the tower car.

Mysuru Railway Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and they learnt that the man was a labourer and a resident of Heggavadi village in Chamarajanagar district, who used to come to Mysuru daily for work. But his exact identity is yet to be confirmed.

The body has been shifted to MMC&RI mortuary and post-mortem will be performed only after his family members are traced, said Mysuru Railway Police Sub-Inspector Ramesh.
