Mysore/Mysuru: A youth, who approached an elderly woman on the pretext of asking sickle, has snatched a gold chain from the woman. The incident took place at Hosahundi village in the taluk yesterday afternoon.

The woman, who lost her gold chain, is 70-year-old Siddamma, a resident of Hosahundi village.

Yesterday afternoon, Siddamma was grazing her goats at a field, next to Varuna Canal at Hosahundi village, when a youth approached her and asked her to give her sickle.

When Siddamma turned to pick up the sickle, the youth caught hold of her, yanked off her 30-gram gold chain and fled from the spot.

Based on the complaint from Siddamma, Mysuru South Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to trace and nab the chain-snatcher.
