KSCA Mysuru Zone fetes cricket achievers

Mysuru: The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Mysuru Zone, held its Annual Awards function at Nityotsava Convention Hall in city on Oct. 31.

Mysuru cricketers, both men and women, who had represented Karnataka at State and National-level were felicitated.

Speaking on the occasion, KSCA Mysuru Zone In-charge Irfan Sait said, Mysuru had ideal environment for budding cricketers to express themselves. With 480 matches conducted this year, Mysuru had provided greater opportunities for talented cricketers, he said adding that Mysuru had the highest number of women cricketers compared to other cities in State.

KSCA Interim President Sanjai Poll said Mysuru had contributed immensely for the growth of KSCA.

“Mysuru, apart from hosting Zonal-level tournaments, has also been a venue for National-level and Maharaja Trophy,” he said adding that efforts would be made to upgrade the existing facilities in Mysuru.

Later, cricketers S.J. Nikkin Jose, Kishan S. Bedare, L.R. Chethan and L. Manvanth Kumar of Mysuru Zone, who had represented Karnataka in Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Tournament and Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament and senior women’s cricketer Shubha Satheesh were awarded for their achievements.  Cricketers who were felicitated include:

Men: U-25: L.R. Chethan and B. Dheemanth; U-23: Kruthik Krishna and Manvanth Kumar, U-16: Dhyan Mahesh Hiremath.

KSCA Women’s League: The trophy was presented to Champion ‘Yamuna’ and Runner-up ‘Ganga’ teams at KSCA, Mysuru Zone, Annual Awards function in city. Also the ‘Best Batter’ award was given to Yashika K. Gowda (538 runs) and ‘Best Bowler’ award to J. Deeksha (11 wickets).

Women: U-23: P. Saloni, U-19: Veda Varshini & J. Deeksha; U-15: Liyanka B. Shetty, Nesara Sapthagirish, Karishma J. Gowda and K. Harshitha.
