‘Sahitya Purusha Saraswathi’ award conferred on Dr. CPK

Mysore/Mysuru: Veteran Litterateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) was conferred with the prestigious ‘Sahitya Purusha Saraswathi’ award for lifetime achievement, while other personalities — Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) Director Dr. N.K. Lolakshi, singer Dr. A.D. Srinivasan and Tabla artiste Indushekar were conferred with Kannada Rajyotsava award at the ‘Kannada Habba’ programme organised under the joint aegis of Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishat and Sri Ananteshwara Trust at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Sunday.

MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah inaugurated the programme, while Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal hoisted the Kannada flag. Noted poet Jayappa Honnali and Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra Senior Reporter S.T. Ravikumar (RK), who is also a former Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President, delivered the felicitation address.

Singers Indrani Anantaraj, Rashmi Chikkamagalur, Rajesh Padiyar, N. Bettegowda, Sridhar, Y.D. Rajanna, Raviraj Haasu, Kavita Kamath, Poornima, Srilatha, C.S. Vani, Abdul Khayyam, Nagendra, Vedashri, Sujatha Jayakumar, Vanishri, P.M. Suresh, Shubha Pallavi, Shashikala Anantharam, Spoorthi, Sheela Gurudatt, Sinchana, C. Ramesh, Sugandhamma Jayappa, Sumitra, Manvi U.S. Achar, Charvi Satish, P. Manyata, Upasana and Jarusha presented a melodious Kannada Rajyotsava musical nite.

They were accompanied by Ganesh Bhat and Nagalingesh Achar on keyboard, Raghunath on tabla, Raghavendra Prasad on drums, Gurudatt on rythm pad and Balasubramanya on flute.

All the singers were felicitated on the occasion. Senior Journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar, Culture Promoter Shankar Devanur, Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishat President Dr. Nagaraj V. Bairy and others were present.
