Mysore/Mysuru:The 538th Bhakta Kanakadasa Jayanti will be celebrated under the aegis of Kanakadasa Jayantyotsava Samiti at Kalamandira on Hunsur Road here tomorrow (Nov. 8).
Announcing this at a press meet in city yesterday, Samiti President M.K. Somashekar, who is also a former MLA, said that the Jayanti celebrations will begin with a grand procession of a statue of Kanakadasa to be taken out in a specially decorated Silver Chariot from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple at the Palace North Gate at 9.30 am.
The procession, accompanied by a host of cultural and folk troupes, will pass through K.R. Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road, Chamaraja Double Road (100 ft. Road), Narayana Shastry Road, D. Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road and Vinoba Road, before culminating at Kalamandira where District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the stage programme at 12.30 pm in the presence of Shivanandapuri Swamiji. MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, MLCs A.H. Vishwanath, Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Dr. D. Thimmaiah and K. Shivakumar, MLAs D. Ravishankar, Tanveer Sait, K. Harishgowda and T.S. Srivatsa will take part, Somashekar said adding that a programme has been organised in association with Kannada and Culture Department at Kalamandira at 4 pm on Nov. 9, during which recent Kannada Rajyotsava awardees will be felicitated.
Somashekar further said that the Samiti has invited applications from meritorious students of the community who have scored high marks in SSLC and PUC (2025-26) for presentation of Pratibha Puraskar. For more details, contact Mob: 94803-25656.
