Laya Madhurya: Bharatanatyam & Kathak performance on Nov. 14

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Nartana Namana, Ganabharathi, in association with Vidu. Nandini Eswer’s Raasavrunda, will present Bharatanatyam and Kathak live concert titled ‘Laya Madhurya’ in memory of the Gurus, Lalitha Dorai, Pt. Tirathram ‘Azad’ Sharma, Pt. Y.N. Simha and Guru Valmiki Banerjee at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar, on Nov.14 at 6.30 pm.

Conceptualisation and Direction is by Vidu. Shantala Vattam of Shantala Academy of Music and Dance in Mysuru. The performing artistes of Shantala Academy are: Vidu. Shantala Vattam, Neetu Palaksha, Ashwini Bevinakatti Sunil, Shivani Ravi Shankar, Hiranmayi, Krutika Arus, Aditi, Supeksha, Deepa, Lakshmi Bevinakatti, Ashwini Dikxit, Hita Jyothi, Divya Jyothi, Ojaswini, Sanvi and Vaishnavi.

Accompanying artistes are: Vidu Shantala Vattam on vocal, natuvanga and phadanth, H.L. Shivashankara Swamy on mridanga,  Vid. Tandavamurthy on violin, Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanoor on tabla and Pt. Balasubrahmanyam Bharadwaj on bansuri.

About the Director: Shantala Vattam is a prominent musician, danseuse and choreographer from Mysuru. She is recognised for her work in both classical Indian music and dance, with contributions to film music and live performances. She has been trained under Vidu. Nandini Eswer, Dr. Gangubai Hanagal, Vid. Ruby Mishra, Pt. Jaikishan Maharaj, Pt. Tribhuvan Maharaj, Naganath Wodeyar  and Pt. Shripad Hegde.

She has performed on many prestigious platforms in India and abroad both in music and dance. She has been a playback singer for many sandalwood movies and honoured with many awards for her accomplishments.
