Chiguru marks Children’s Day celebrations

Mysore/Mysuru: MLC C.N. Manjegowda inaugurated Children’s Day celebrations titled ‘Chiguru’ organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture at Kirurangamandira, Kalamandira premises in the city yesterday.

Speaking after inaugurating the function MLC C.N. Manjegowda said that  parents must adopt soft approach while dealing with their children. Children observe a lot and parents must become role models for their children. The MLC  hailed the organisers of the function for providing a platform for children in the age group of 6 to 16 to exhibit their talents. ‘Parents and teachers should always try to bring out the hidden creative talents of children,” added MLC Manjegowda.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. P. Shivaraju who also spoke said that, it is always a challenge for parents to engage their children in productive and creative activities.” It appears that the parents of children who are showcasing their skills today have done a good job in nurturing the talents of their children,” added ADC Dr. Shivaraju.

At the Children’s  Day function, Satvik and troupe presented a classical music programme, Ayushi Santosh and troupe presented light music, G. Ramya and troupe presented folk songs and Nisarga and troupe presented a dance programme. While Arjun Krishna showcased his talent in mono acting, a troupe led by Shramanth Gowda enacted  a play Kaviratna Kalidasa which entertained the audience.

V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Joint Director of Kannada and Culture Department, Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, Assistant Director and parents of children and others were present at the programme.
