Bengaluru: MLAs loyal to Dy. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are mounting pressure on the Congress High Command to replace Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and elevate Shivakumar to the top post before the Winter Session of the State Assembly in Belagavi, which begins on Dec. 8.
Pro-Shivakumar MLAs, who have been travelling to Delhi in batches, are set to send yet another group tomorrow. They have reportedly reminded the High Command of the 2023 understanding that DKS would be made Chief Minister after 2.5 years and insisted that both the party and the current CM honour the commitment.
According to sources, the MLAs have cautioned the Congress High Command that if the leadership change does not take place by Dec. 8, they will be compelled to wear identical outfits inside the Assembly to visibly mark themselves as members of the DKS camp. Such a display, they warned, would create a clear visual divide on the floor of the House.
