Graduation Day held at JSS Ayurveda Medical College

Mysore/Mysuru: A total of 98 under-graduate and 43 post-graduate students received their degrees during the graduation day held at JSS Ayurveda Medical College here recently.

Delivering the Graduation Day address, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.C. Bhagavan stressed on the need for exploring research works on the ancient system of medicine for the benefit of the society adding that Ayurveda was the future for coming generations.

Stating that many Ayurvedic manuscripts from vedic period had been destroyed, Dr. Bhagavan highlighted the need for digitalisation to preserve them for the future generations and added RGUHS had taken several measures to archive and safeguard the data for future exploration.

Dr. Bhagavan, stating that thousands of young graduates were entering medical field ever year, urged young doctors to serve in rural areas where the opportunities are in abundance to learn and serve and advised the doctors and medical students to spread the message and importance of organ donation.

He also added the RGUHS Administrative Campus was being constructed on a 250-acre land near Ramanagar along with a Cancer Research Institute on a 50 acre land at Bheemanakuppe.

Meritorious students Dr. U. Ashmitha, Dr. T.P. Shruthi, Dr. Sumedha Bhat received RGUHS Topper Awards. Dr. M. Namratha who secured rank in Kayachikitsa and Dr. S.L. Pallavi who secured ranks in both Kayachikitsa and Swasthavritta were also felicitated on the occasion.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, JSS Mahavidyapeeta Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Besturmath, Medical Education Director R. Mahesh, JSS Ayurveda Medical College Principal Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Vice-Principal Dr. Shivaprasad Hudeda, Dr. S. Srihari, Dr. Vishal S. Kumar and others were present.
