State Govt. to reserve jobs for sportspersons

Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah yesterday announced that the State Government will implement 3 percent reservation in Forest and Police Department and 2 percent reservation in various other Departments for sportspersons.

Responding to a question by MLC Ivan D’Souza at Legislative Council, regarding providing reservation in government jobs, developing sports infrastructure and promoting the sport of kabaddi, CM Siddaramaiah stated that the government has appointed 13 athletes, who won medals at the Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth and Asian Games.

“In the Police Department, 70 Constables and 14 Police Sub-Inspectors have been directly appointed. The government will provide reservation to athletes in the Forest Department, the Police Department and various other Departments. The government will also consider providing more encouragement to kabaddi,” he added.
